TRY to pray to the weather Gods that the nights it freezes.. you have chosen to drain the pipes.. as my hubby an I thoroghly enjoyed our hot tubbing under the stars, soft music, led lights we sunk in the tub for effect (! fun !) and again the next day with some amazing brid watching. I'd love to have a real garden, but for the time being will be very thankful to have herbs growing out on the porch, a few pots of lettuces out back, and a row on loan down at my parents' house for a few other veggies for our table. I'm having fun making my own yogurt, granola, and "from-scratch" fresh organic meals for my family. We got rid of our microwave and prepare food the way it's meant to be prepared: with thought and thankfulness! Our lovely meal of leek and asparagus chowder with fresh bread seems worlds away from the traffic jam 1/4 mile down the road at the grand opening of the latest Sonic fast food place tonight. Such a shame....they don't know what they're missing!
Heather/PuyallupAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4107825200472510642.post-4779751806335993012009-03-20T17:03:00.000-07:002009-03-20T17:03:00.000-07:00Wow, Joe! As for the TV (I DO know what THAT is!), the Garden House doesn't need one. We did bring our laptop and watch a movie on it, but it was really nice being "forced" to go without the constant drone of the tube, or having to pry the remote from my husband's hand as he mindlessly surfs....even when he knows there's nothing on. The Garden House is an escape from the everyday, a place where time stops and the most pressing matter is which direction to head out for a walk, or whether to go out to eat - or not! I look forward to our next visit....
HeatherAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4107825200472510642.post-39041897933113684392009-03-10T07:56:00.000-07:002009-03-10T07:56:00.000-07:00I visited the garden house on my honeymoon in Sept...I visited the garden house on my honeymoon in September '07.

We were inspired by the beauty of the property, the island, and your pottery. While there I created several marker drawings from the huge rock down by the water. My wife and I are painters, but I was inspired to begin pottery. I started throwing last month, and I'm making progress. Small cups, bowls, and vases. Your glazing techniques are incredible.

Best of luck with your new blog. We'll be sure to book a stay if we find ourselves on Orcas Island again.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
